C-Lovers Fish & Chips : Coquitlam location

Post on C-Lovers in Burquitlam [HERE]

Wow, look how heavy the rain is! After finishing dinner with my parents, I was craving for some fish n' chips and met up with a friend at C-Lovers Fish & Chips. C-Lovers is a fast food chain restaurant that serves made to order fish n' chips and features an all you can eat menu as well! The restaurant was fairly empty when we walked in but quite a few people came for take out. The all you can eat menu comes with unlimited fish n' chips and bottomless pop, just like Cockney Kings.

TODDLER (3 & UNDER) $2.99, CHILD (4-9) $5.99, ADULT ($11.99).

SIDE OF PRAWNS, DELICATELY BATTERED ($2.99).
The side of prawns are definitely the highlight of dinner and tastes a lot better than the fish n' chips! The prawns are a nice size, lightly battered and tastes moist as well as flavourful with a nice snap. These are actually really good. Really. Good.

HOMESTYLE C-FOOD CHOWDER, HEARTWARMING WELL-SEASONED CHOWDER IS ABUNDANT WITH ALASKAN HALIBUT AND FRESH CUT VEGGIES, LARGE ($4.99).
The C-Food chowder has too much fish and although some may prefer that, I personally think when it comes to soup there cannot be too much of one ingredient. The chowder tastes like a generic fish chowder and although slightly too watery, does not taste overly salty or bland.

GRAVY ($1.79).
The side of gravy is a very generous portion but neither of us enjoyed it. Although the gravy tastes like a generic beef powdered gravy, the consistency is too thick as well as gooey.

ALL YOU CAN EAT FISH N' CHIPS ($11.99).
The cod is freshly as well as lightly battered, has a nice crisp exterior and the meat tastes flaky as well as moist. C-Lovers uses cod rather than pollack (unlike at Cockney Kings) and their tartar sauce tastes a lot more flavourful, with a nice tanginess. As for the fries, perfectly crisp and not oily. Also, I like that the cod is cut in long thin slices rather than a huge chunk because I find it easier to eat. However to most, may prefer a larger cut since there will be less batter.

Fortunately I ate before coming here because the restaurant never mentioned when the last call was. Furthermore, it was a bit random because our waiter dropped off an extra three pieces of cod and asked if everything was fine, but never once mentioned it was last call as the kitchen was cleaning up.

TOTAL: $35.45 + TIP $9.55 = $45.00.

Overall we tipped 27% because we thought the total was $39.00 instead of what it was and regardless, our waiter Brandon was friendly as well as welcoming and followed up on us a few times.

POSITIVES
- Friendly staff
- Made to order meals
- Cheap price for AYCE fish n' chips
- Prawns are pretty good

NEGATIVES
- Some may not like the long and narrow pieces
- In general, should always mention when last call is

LITTLE THINGS
- Post on C-Lovers in Burquitlam [here]
- I would probably order halibut or salmon next time rather than AYCE

Food: 2.5/5
Service: 3/5

  1. Wow. It's impressive that they used cod for the AYCE. We've been to the Abbotsford store a few times and it's always pollock. Not really a bad thing but I'd much prefer what you got! Again, great write-up...always a pleasure to read your blog. :)

    1. Thank you :)
I assumed every location would use cod instead of pollack! Either way, it is still a good deal. I was going to visit Milestones and took a look at their menu, I think their fish n' chips are $20.00 and they serve pollack, not even cod!
